Adding Footprints & Sizing

How do I add my baby's footprints?

We recommend using 'mess free' ink pads, which are available through our store for Australian customers.

See the ink pads product page for instructions on how to use them.

International customers can purchase the ink pads separately from international suppliers.

Can I use paint to add the footprints?

Yes you can. We recommend 'mess free' ink pads for smaller bubs, but water based paint can be a good option for toddlers onward.

Just be prepared for some extra mess, and do a test print on some blank paper first!

How do the 'mess free' ink pads work?

Ultimately the ink is only on one side of the pad, and sits off the page, then when pressure is applied to the non inked side, it pushes the inked side onto the page, leaving the print. Quick, easy, and no mess!

What ages are the ink pads suitable for?

It's dependant on the size of your baby's feet, but the sizes below are a good guide.

Small Ink Pads: ~0-6 months (ink area is 5.7cm x 9.5cm)

Large Ink Pads: ~6-24 months (ink area is 8cm x 12.5cm)

Will the footprints fade over time?

When completed with quality ink or paint and displayed away from direct sunlight, your keepsake can be enjoyed for many years.

What ages are the prints suitable for?

It really depends on your preference for younger babies. Up to about 3-6 months can easily fit on the A4 prints, but still look very cute on A3.

As for how old we can go, I've had a 5 year old add their footprint's to an A3 print.

Can I use paw prints instead of footprints?

Absolutely! We recommend trimming or shaving the fur under your pets paws if possible first, to ensure you get a clear print.

And using the 'mess free' ink pads is best for pets, especially those that don't like their paws being touched.

What if I make a mistake with the footprints?

Most 'mistakes' are something that you smile at when you look back on. One of my nephews is missing his second toe on both feet, which I laugh at every time I see.

If you use the 'mess free' ink pads it's harder to make mistakes. Make sure you press the foot down gently but firmly, and ensure you push down against the toes as well as the top of the foot.

If you're using water based paint, have a practice run on a blank piece of paper until you work out what is the right amount of paint to apply to the foot and technique to press down. Sometimes a 'walking' movement works well - pressing down heel to toe, then removing heel to toe like a walking motion.

Can I use handprints instead of footprints?

Some prints are suitable to add hand prints, such as the tortoise, but unfortunately most are designed only with the feet in mind.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

We use print companies in different countries for overseas orders, so we ship to you, but it's printed locally to you as well.

This doesn't include the ink pads or hangers, unfortunately due to the cost of international shipping we don't generally offer these.

How long does shipping take?

In Australia, using Australia Post Standard Parcel Post 2-13 business days. If the product is not in stock, it can take 1-3 days to have it printed before being sent.

International shipping is a similar timeframe but varies depending on country.

Yes you can, just provide recipients address in the shipping details section of the checkout.

Is pickup an option?

We stock most prints in some emporiums in Victoria, Australia. These change periodically so check our Instagram for which emporiums are currently stocking our prints.

Separate to the Emporiums, we can currently facilitate pickups in the Yarra Valley and Victorian High Country.

Where are your prints made?

Currently, all prints for Australian customers are printed in Victoria, Australia.

International customers orders are usually printed in their own country.

Are the prints framed?

No, prints do not come with frames unless purchased as an add on.

We offer magnetic hangers which are suitable for both paper and canvas, but work especially well with canvas which is not standard frame sizing.

Our paper prints will fit into a standard A4 or A3 frame.

Is this a good baby shower gift?

Yes! Many parents receive a lot of the same presents, such as clothes, that the baby grows out of so quickly, not to mention that what one person finds cute may not be the style the parents prefer.

This is sweet, different, and will capture a moment in time that will never be forgotten. Gift cards are available if you're not sure which animal will be loved the most.

Are these digital downloads?

No, they are physical prints using 200 GSM paper or 400 GSP rolled canvas.

What paper are the prints made from?

The paper prints use 200 GSM card, which is thicker than standard printing paper (80 GSM)

The canvas prints use 400 GSM canvas

How are the artworks created?

  1. Design: Usually Pinterest provides the inspiration, I'm always looking for young, cute, and mostly realistic. Being mindful of how best to design for footprints to be added.
  2. Sketch out: With lighter pastels, I sketch out the image to make sure I'm happy with the sizing and initial feel
  3. Colouring in: Layer by layer I add colours and texture, starting with the medium tones and working out towards the lighter and darker tones.
  4. Scanning: I take the animal to my local print shop to scan the image in, then I check the scan for any issues such as lines or discolouration
  5. Edit: Usually the scan picks up blemishes on the page around the animal, such as fingerprints and smudges from my arm and wrist, so I remove the background. Then I resize the image, add my logo, and send the file back for printing.
  6. Print: The printing places work their magic

How long does it take you to draw an animal?

It is very dependant on how I'm feeling, and whether I get in the 'zone'. Some animals I can get done in a day, others take much longer, plus or minus a breakdown 💁‍♀️
